German television MDR produced on September 11th, 2019 a segment on the digitalization of the Magdeburg Port for its science magazine »MDR Wissen«. PortForward coordinator Christian Blobner presented the VR Model of the Magdeburg Port and explained how it will be used to optimize logistics and storage processes in the port by interfacing with real-time data from IoT devices. Dr. Heiko Maly, Magdeburg Port General Manager, described the real-world benefits of the PortForward’s research approach and how the project solutions will improve operation in the inland port.
